New Kid on the Blog
NEW KIDDD on the BLOG
Well, after two beautifully and artfully composed blog entries that fell into the netherworld of cyberspace, I'm trying again. Actually my host provider's support personnel fabulously guided me through the process with patience and understanding and answering all my questions.
Therefore, without further ado. Here we go!!! Blog...according to Webster's Dictionary it means.....hmmmmm! So!!
I actually wish this site to be more of a journal of my thoughts, feelings and processes as I go through the art world with family, friends, patrons, and acquaintences. I've had a great life with so many wonderful people who've been so supportive and encouraging of my artistic adventures in music, theatre and the visual arts. There are so many coworkers, classmates in college and in work, and I could never had done any of this without the undying support of my mom and dad, my sisters, my husband and daughter and there are so many, many friends who've always been there cheering me on, attending receptions and even going out w/me to paint, photograph and just to enjoy the environment. THANK YOU!!!
I grew up among the trees, played in the clouds and ran with the rain. I enjoyed exploring caves, the ocean and the rivers and lakes and all the Eastern forests. I evolved into predicting the weather by it's smell; feeling the troubles in the earth by touch and understanding the processes of life in time and in place. My family always encouraged me to 'be myself' so I was able to develop sensitivities to people, places and things while having a great time as a child. I have my parents to thank for this and the introduction to and availability to finding God. With this and finding myself apart of the most wonderful world in existence, I proceed to create the world of Tegwin as I wished it to be and as it has become. I go places and touch the past bringing a part of it into my world and sharing it with those who choose to view my works.
God and Christ have always been there for me through many trials and tribulations. It is to God that I say thanks every morning when I wake and when I paint that I'm able to touch the soul of the earth and transfer it into visual being. For me the honor of creating that and sharing it with the world is the best thing I could do as an artist. I smile and feel good when I paint. It's a link, a connection with the past. With study and research of times, places, and cultures, I link today with the past and project for the future.
An artwork for me is never done. I never make statements. I always ask questions and I hope that never changes. There's always a li'l something that's has to find it's way into my works for the viewer to complete making that final connection completing the circle. And, "OH, What JOY!!!!!!"
Technique, of course, is a definite part but it isn't the most important element. Soul is! Sketches and studies often find the soul of place but it's the painting that exudes itself which becomes my classic works. My journeys shared with different exhibits are what I share with you, all of it, unedited, unadulterated, and uncensored for all of you to travel with me as it is.
So here I am and it's now Oct 2009 and I'm hoping to 'post my blog' SOON!!! We've had many travels and experiences this year and while all above rains with the wind as we settle in for our first storm of the season, we're still going camping this week!
Happy Fall and Happy Art!
